Final Presentation Screens + Notes

Good afternoon guys, for this project I decided to work with the phar lap display, turning it into a very atmospheric experience and use interactive technology to highlight the key points of phar laps unique and dramatic history

Users will notice and be drawn in by the live feed crowd featured at the rear of exhibit, once inside…

She notices the crunch of synthetic dirt and grass beneath her feet and listens to sound of the cheering crowd and feels the floor rumble as the horses race past on the looped audio track.

She then notices the hologram crowd standing before her and feels as though is standing in the midst of the races back in the 1930’s. She looks on to see the skeleton of phar lap standing at the front of the exhibition, although may not yet fully understand its significance.

By placing her hand on the touch pad she activates the heads up display

from here she can watch short movie montages based on pharlaps extraordinary racing career, his status as an underdog or the suspicion around his early death.

The selected option overlays the skeleton to complete the atmospheric experience.

After the montage has finished the user is left once again looking upon pharlap with a better understanding of his significance as a racehorse from New Zealand.

Initially I explored the peppers ghost technique to accomplish my holographic crowd but getting it to work caused spatial issues, severely cutting off the space where users will flow through the exhibition.

And once you start considering a range of different user groups it was simply impractical

my solution -  samsungs OLED display technology. Able to be fully colour transparent

and works out spatiattly similar to a regular tv moniter.

that’s all from me, thanks guys.
